Correspondence, 1943-1945.

The collection consists of correspondence between Private James W. Gauker and his wife, Mildred, in Cambridge City, Indiana. The early letters contain an extensive description of Gauker's military training activities, and the lives and personal affairs of other friends in the military who wrote to him. The other correspondents include Bryan and John Gauker with the Navy, and Woody Conner who was with the Army. There are also several love letters to Sergeant James Mulligan with the U.S. Army in Europe from Vivian Mendenhall.

James W. Gauker (1912-1994) was born in Henry County, Indiana, but later moved to Cambridge City, Wayne County, Indiana. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
